Our live-in care service

Our live-in care service is provided by two professional, trained and locally supported carers typically rotating on a one or two week-on / week-off basis. This ensures genuine continuity of care and the opportunity to build a trusted and friendly relationship.

The priority in live-in care is to ensure that the client gets all the support and care they need to live an independent and healthy life. This includes support with day-to-day domestic tasks, personal care, and providing companionship.

Live-in care can be arranged on a long-term basis or a respite basis to provide a break to a carer, to aid recovery or to enable the client to get used to the support.

Locally managed live-in care

Our live-in care service is available throughout Yorkshire and surrounding counties and is fully managed, quality assured and supported 24/7 by local care management teams. This includes the management teams regularly visiting our clients across Yorkshire to ensure they are happy and comfortable at home – a key differentiator versus many national providers who may not always do this.

Each live-in care plan is bespoke and tailored for each client. Regular reviews with our senior care managers ensures that the care plans are appropriate to the client’s changing needs.

Our carers have the up-to-date skills and qualifications to carry out complex care for conditions such as Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurones, Parkinson’s, and Acquired Brain and Spinal Injuries.

Live-in carers will work between 10 and 12 hours per day depending on the needs. They receive a break of at least 2 hours each day and must have sufficient rest at night. We can provide additional care if you require support during the night, or cover during carer breaks.

Live-in care explained

With live-in care, a dedicated carer lives in the client’s home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet all their needs. Typically, live-in care is provided by two professional and highly trained carers who rotate on a weekly shift pattern.

Our service provides genuine continuity of care as the carer lives with the client, enabling trusted friendships to grow and flourish. As well as meeting our clients’ physical needs, we work with them to create a bespoke care plan which incorporates their goals, hobbies, and personal interests.

Live-in care enables people to continue to live independently at home, confident in the knowledge that one-to-one care is on hand 24 hours a day.

What is live in care?

Live-in care provides round-the-clock care at home from fully trained carers. Typically, live in care is provided by two professional and highly trained carers who rotate on a 1 or 2 week shift pattern.

Live in carers provide a wide variety of tasks including personal care, companionship, home help, medication management, as well as and specialist medical care for those with complex needs such as Dementia. Live in carers often become a rock to their clients, enabling them to live the way they want every day.

Live-in care is a life enhancing alternative to residential care, enabling clients to enjoy a better quality of life at home whilst providing peace of mind to family.

How much does live in care cost?

The costs of live in care are dependent on the needs of the clients and the level of support required. In general, costs are comparable to a good quality care home and live in care is especially economical for couples who would otherwise be required to pay for two beds in a care home. There are many benefits of live in care over a care home, including that live in carers provide dedicated one-to-one care and are not restricted by how much time they have for each resident.

Live-in care can either be for a sustained amount of time with no planned end date or in the form of respite care, which is for short-term solutions lasting less than four weeks.

Our live in care costs start from £1,395 per week and this is an all inclusive price.

What is domiciliary care?

Domiciliary care (also known as home care, care at home and home help) is the range of care services put in place to support someone to continue living safely at home. It is available for people of all ages who require some help with domestic tasks, personal care, administering medication, as well as those looking for some companionship. It is particularly common among elderly people who wish to remain living at home rather than moving into a care setting.

There are a number of benefits to staying at home, including remaining in familiar surroundings; no change to the routine; no impact on a person’s independence; no change in local community, nearby friends or regular activities; and bespoke care plans.

Our domiciliary care service is provided by a small team of regular carers. This enables genuine friendships to form between our clients and staff and the care to be highly personalised to the unique wishes and needs of the client.

We are widely recognised as one of the leading domiciliary care providers in Kirklees, Wakefield and Calderdale.

What is a domiciliary carer?

A domiciliary carer is a highly trained, professional carer who visits clients at home and helps them to independently. Domiciliary care workers are an essential part of a client’s daily routine to enable them to maintain their quality of life at home.

Domiciliary carers (also known as Community Care Assistants) carry out a range of tasks, including meal preparation, medication management, personal care, complex care and general companionship. They may also accompanying clients on visits out of the house. The job is widely considered as one of the most satisfying jobs one can do.

What is the difference between live in care and domiciliary care?

Both live in care and domiciliary care include care provided in a person’s home. However, with live in care the carer lives with the person round the clock, 24/7, whereas with domiciliary care the carer visits the client for a period of time on the agreed-upon days.

The Care Collection’s domiciliary care service starts from 1 hour calls – we do not believe a high quality service can be provided in less time. Our domiciliary care service is available at all times of the day, with the most popular times being around mealtimes and at bedtime.

Who is live in care for?

Live in care is available for people of all ages who require on hand support to remain living independently at home. It is common among elderly people who prefer to stay in the comfort of their own homes rather than moving into a care home. It is also used by younger adults with complex medical conditions such as Learning Disabilities, Acquired Brain Injuries, Acquired Spinal Injuries and Motor Neurones Disease.

Live-in care has many advantages over moving into a care home or a nursing home, including:

Live-in care

Care home

Remain at in the comfort and security of your own home

Unfamiliar surroundings without home comforts

Continue to enjoy the routine and lifestyle you are accustomed to – this particularly important for those living Dementia

Significant changes to daily activities and loss of independence

Dedicated 1-1 care provided by the same person –  this means there is a better understanding of the individual’s needs, as well as a strong sense of companionship

Multiple carers working across different shifts who may not be familiar with your specific needs

Maintain your hobbies and continue to be part of your local community

Harder to access your local community and may involve moving to a new location

What do I need to provide for a live in carer?

Our Live-in carers needs their own furnished bedroom to enable them to get sufficient sleep and rest and have privacy. Our live-in carers cook daily meals according to the client’s preferences and they will need a food allowance for themselves to the value of £5 per day. They need a 2 hour break each day – we can provide additional hourly home care to cover these breaks if friends or family are unable. Finally the house should have an internet connection so that the live-in carer can update care records using our secure care management app.
